Classes

On the campus of Canisius College, the Alliance Française offers group French classes that meet once a week for two hours, normally for 10-week sessions. The average course size is six students, with no more than 10 students per class. Classes generally take place between 4:15 PM and 8:30 PM each weekday with the exception of Friday. Several levels of General French Language Courses (levels A1-C1) offer instruction to students of all proficiency levels including beginning, intermediate and advanced speakers. The sequence is offered continuously each session.

The cost of each 10-week session is $250 + materials. Enrollment is contingent upon advanced payment for class and materials. To be eligible for a refund, student must contact the Alliance at info@afbuffalo.org or call 716-688-4171 at least 24 hours before the first class. After the first class, only a credit for the next session will be issued (a $30.00 cancellation fee plus $25.00 per class is retained by the Alliance Française). No credit is issued after the end of the 3rd week of classes. A limited number of spaces are currently available, please call for more information at 716-688-4171 or contact us at info@afbuffalo.org

Please do not call Canisius College!

Students who are new to the Alliance Française but who have taken French courses before or have spent time in a French speaking country must take an informal placement test at the time of registration. This FREE placement test is a way for us to better understand your strengths and needs, so as to recommend the best class for your current level. This is one of the many ways we will help make your language learning experience with us truly successful and enjoyable.

This written online test online placement test at www.alliance-us.org/Merlin/Placement.htm takes about 10 minutes to complete and is in 2 parts. Once you have completed the written test, you will be offered the option to send your production to yourself and/or the Alliance chapter of your choice (Alliance Française de Buffalo). In order to ensure a more accurate placement, the online placement test will be followed by a quick phone interview with a French instructor who will recommend a class.
