Montreal Trip - July 2006
For the ten lucky members and friends of the AFB who reserved five days of their summer to go to Montreal in July 2006, that Francophone city will always hold special memories.
Thanks to the expert guidance of Marie-Claude Hébert, who planned every detail, we saw aspects of Montreal that we would never have discovered on our own.
Our sightseeing included a guided walking tour of the old city. We also explored the picturesque residential streets, toured the rich English district of Westmount and its French counterpart, Outremont. We spent a rainy afternoon at the Musée des Beaux-Arts and a sunny morning at the spectacular Botanical Garden.
For our nightly grande bouffe we dined (no, feasted!) in a homey Moroccan restaurant; we enjoyed the atmosphere of a typical French bistrot; we had dinner in a noisy Mexican restaurant, where we were serenaded by a mariachi band; and we saved the best for last: a tiny French restaurant where the presentation of every dish was as beautiful as the food was delicious.
I, for one, am eager to visit this bustling city again to visit other museums, sample other restaurants, and explore the vast network of underground commerce.
