Francophonie Celebration
Following the international celebration of La Journée de la Francophonie, the Alliance Française de Buffalo started its own event in 2001. Every year it takes a different shape, from a movie and discussion, to a table ronde animated with specialists in different fields, followed sometimes by a dinner prepared by our wonderful cook, Alessandra DeSimone.
2007- The Alliance Française de Buffalo Celebrates la Journée de la Francophonie in Indochina
Sunday, March 25, 2007 • 3 pm • On the Campus of Buffalo State College,
1300 Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo NY • Butler Library, Room 210
With the help of presenters, native of these regions, as well as through the revue of documentaries,
and displays of geographical maps, textiles and artifacts both utilitarian and decorative, we will have a
snap shot of the landscape of those countries, their culture, and their heritage. We will hear the music of the region,
see its costumes and witness some cultural rituals. We will discuss the importance of French language in that part of the world,
the path it traveled throughout the last decades, and its status today.
If you want to attend please send a check in the amount of $8 per person, payable to the Alliance Française de Buffalo, to Marianne Vallet-Sandre, 52 Lexington Avenue. Buffalo, NY 14222. Pre-purchased tickets (checks received up to March 21) will be reserved for you at the door. (Un-announced participants will be accommodated at the door, capacity permitting. ĘDonation required on that day will be $10.00 per person).

2003 - Haiti, discussion with Nicole Lee
2002 - Senegal, discussion with Judy Scales-Trent and Abdou Sarr
2001 - Table Ronde Bilingue sur le Canada francophone, with Francois Paré, Marc Bourgeois, Marc-Yvain Giroux, Kandace Lombart, and Gérard Bucher as a moderator.
